SHINING A LIGHT ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF LAUNCHES 11TH ANNUAL PURPLE LIGHT NIGHTS Members of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Prince George's County, Chapter participated in the 11th Annual Office of the Sheriff's "Shining A Light on Domestic Violence": Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff Launch Thursday, October 26, 2024. The annual event's mission is to expand its efforts to raise awareness and stand against domestic violence ahead of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Sheriff John D. B. Carr invited Sheriffs from Charles and Anne Arundel Counties to join the kick-off. Residents are displayed purple lights on porches and in windows through October, shining a light on the darkness that is domestic violence. President Biden and Vice President Harris announced their plan to lower Medicaid drug prices at Prince George's Community College on August 15, 2024. Members of NCBW-Prince George’s County Chapter attended the presentation of their signed legislation to lower cost 10 major drugs for chronic illnesses including diabetes, arthritis, cancer, and cardiac.
NCBW-Prince George’s County Chapter held its About That Jazz fundraising scholarship brunch on April 27, 2024 at Martin's Crosswinds. The 36th anniversary gala benefits graduated scholars from Prince George's County public schools and our programs of advocacy. We currently have eight student recipients of scholarships that we maintain from the students' college admission to graduation.
